Junior FIRST Lego League

Yancey Robotics 2023-2024

Junior FIRST Lego League (Jr. FLL or FLL Explore):  For ages 6-9.  We will have “show and tell” of the kids own Lego creations each week as well as learn about simple and motorized machines, simple computer programming and work on the Challenge.  Meetings will involve building a Lego creation using a simple machine and a motorized machine.  We will go on at least one field trip. This group will conclude after it presents for judges at the FIRST Robotics Competition sometime between March and May.

Program Cost: $20/student

Welcome to Yancey County Robotics.  The following robotics programs will be offered this year.  Meetings will be held at Quilt-N-Code behind McDonalds.  Registration costs are $20 per child per program and include all supplies needed for the program.  Additional costs could include transportation and food for competitions, hotel rooms, and other unforeseen costs. We will do fundraising to help the team if necessary and we do everything we can to make Legos affordable for everyone!  We are a non-profit and donations and sponsorship are greatly appreciated. 

Important:   We have never intended that this be a drop off program.  Please stay as often as you can and play with your children.  We understand that there are times when this is not possible and we would never stop a child from participating because of that, but we don’t get paid for any of these programs and can always use all the help we can get!
